WARNING: Severe Fire Danger In Tasmania This Friday

Fires are burning across Tasmania and forecast of high temperatures and windy conditions are expected to worsen on Friday.

A total of 55,000 hectares has already been burnt across the state, one of which has been burning since December.

The Bureau of Meteorology have issued the following warning:

Severe Fire Dangers are expected about the East Coast, Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts, with Very High Fire Danger about the Furneaux Islands, North East, and Central Plateau districts. Hot, strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds develop across much of the state during the morning, with wind speeds generally reaching 35 to 45 km/h, gusting to 80 to 90 km/h , with temperatures of mid to high 30's about the east, south and inland areas, and relative humidity dropping to 20 to 30%.

For Friday 25 January:

Severe Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts:
East Coast, Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley and South East 

Very High Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts:
Furneaux Islands, North East and Central Plateau

Friday is set to be the worst day of the season, with a total fire ban in place from Thursday-Monday.
