The World Pizza championships have wrapped up for 2019, and after 750 entries, we finally know where the best pizza is in the country and around the world.
Not surprisingly, a Melbourne pizza joint took out the top prize for Australia, but after years of holding the title, the winner isn’t Gradi!
48h Pizza e Gnocchi Bar’s Michele Circhirillo won with his Di Parma pizza – tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto di Parma, air-freighted mozzarella, rocket and Grana Padano.
So, who took out the World’s Best Pizza title? It was Purezza from the UK – the first vegan pizzeria in that country! It was topped with stir-friend cavolo nero, Italian-style marinated tempeh, pioppini mushrooms and borlotti bean sauce.
