A 55-year-old Esperance man has been fined after police discovered a crossbow on a property.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Carolyn Petersen told the court that at 8AM on March 14, 2019, police executed a search warrant at an address in Nulsen.

Allen David Jones pleaded guilty on June 5 in the Esperance Magistrates Court.

Jones was present during the search and police found a crossbow with metal tips. 

Jones told police he only used it in the backyard for his personal "amusement". 

Allen Jones was fined $400 for possessing a prohibited weapon and charged $205.30 in court costs.
