Dumped Logan mayor Luke Smith was drunk and on his way to get some KFC when he crashed his car and hit a palm tree.

Smith, is also facing corruption and fraud charges. He spent the night in the Beenleigh watchhouse after he allegedly crashed his car on Wednesday following an afternoon drinking session.

Police allege he was about three times over the limit when his car ploughed into a parked vehicle and hit a tree while he was on his way to get food from the Meadowbrook KFC.

He was going fast enough to uproot the palm tree. The crash snapped off his front left wheel and tore a tyre from its rim, Beenleigh Magistrates Court was told.

Smith did not appear in court on Thursday, where he faced charges of drink driving, driving without due care and attention, and breaching bail conditions related to previous charges.

He was granted bail about an hour after the state government said it would sack the entire Logan council on the back of a corruption probe involving him and most of the city's councillors.

Smith was ordered not to consume alcohol, drive a motor vehicle or contact witnesses.

He was also ordered to stay away from Logan council premises.

The matter was adjourned for mention in the same court on May 23.
