The upgrade to the Dempster and Andrew Street Roundabout have now commenced, and a series of road closures are expected this weekend.

According to the Shire of Esperance, traffic management will be in place through the area whilst work is underway to remove two sets of pedestrian crossings and install temporary zebra crossings.

The $443,250 upgrade, funded by the National Blackspot Program, is designed to improve safety and circulation at the intersection and will include new central islands, repositioned pedestrian crossings to improve traffic flow, extra lighting and an improved taxi rank.

The Dempster Street roundabout exit adjacent to ANZ and the Andrew Street roundabout entry from Windich Street will be closed on Saturday, May 11, 12.30PM until 6PM.

Traffic access to the Coles Petrol Station and Beeline Florist will remain available.

On Sunday, May 12, the Dempster Street roundabout entry from the IGA and the Andrew Street roundabout exit to Windich Street will be closed between 6.30AM until 6PM.

The Shire of Esperance advise the public that there will be no footpath access to these areas for the duration of the works.

The Roundabout upgrades are expected to take about 12 weeks to complete.
