Climate change activists from Extinction Rebellion have this morning confirmed they're responsible for protest action happening at South Brisbane.

A group of at least four people have stopped traffic in both directions on the William Jolly Bridge, while one was found abseiling down the bridge.

Another was dressed in a koala suit onesie.

Police are currently at the scene, but say this isn’t action they were given pre warning about.

“The William Jolly Bridge is closed due to protest activity. Diversions in place for Coro Drive inbound. Delays are expected, seek alternate route,” Queensland Police posted to Facebook at around 8:15am this morning.
