Warning: This article contains rumours for the upcoming James Bond film which may be a spoiler

Since 2005, Daniel Craig has played the iconic role of James Bond.

But ever since the actor announced that next year’s Bond 25 film will be his last as the character, names for the next actor to take on the role have been flying around.

Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hiddleston,  Aidan Turner and James Norton have all had their names added to the mix at one point or another.

~Another spoiler warning now~

However, the latest reported rumours are now suggesting that Daniel Craig won’t be handing over the role of James Bond to anyone just yet, and instead, at the end of the next film, a new agent will step into the role of 007.

This new 007 agent will supposedly be played by Lashana Lynch, who you may remember as Carol’s bestie and former fellow Air Force pilot, Maria, in Captain Marvel.

According to The Daily Mail’s ‘movie insider’, there will be a “pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says 'Come in 007', and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman.”

So once again, Lashana would not be playing Bond, but a new agent taking over his agent number.

“Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don't work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning.”

In a recent interview with Deadline, the film’s co-writer Phoebe Waller-Bridg (Killing Eve, Fleabag) explained how the James Bond story will continue to stay relevant.

“There's been a lot of talk about whether or not [the 'Bond' franchise] is relevant now because of who he is and the way he treats women.

"I think that's bollocks. I think he's absolutely relevant now. It has just got to grow. It has just got to evolve, and the important thing is that the film treats the women properly. He doesn't have to. He needs to be true to this character."

Of course this casting news is just rumours for now, so stay tuned for more!
