Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the discovery of a body on a beach in Mackay. The person was found at Seaforth Beach just after midday yesterday and their death is not being treated as suspicious. The Liberal National Party is under fire after airing allegations in Parliament against Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan. Leader of the Opposition Deb Frecklington wouldn’t confirm if her Party had sought permission from the teenage girl at the centre of the investigation to air her complaint. Ms. Frecklington has however, insisted her staff have been in constant contact with the family involved. Mr. Costigan has denied all allegations against him.

Extra food has been delivered to a ship off the coast of Mackay. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) airlifted provisions to the Villa Deste following claims from the crew that they were running out of food. A complaint had previously been filed by the International Transport Worker’s Federation (ITWF) to AMSA on behalf of the crew moored at a BHP terminal near Hay Point. It all came off the back of an email from crew calling for help as they were allegedly running out of food, had not been receiving onboard wages, and were living off a $4 a day food budget.

Ex NRL player Ben Barba is slowly piecing his life back together. The former star recently received a life ban from the League after he was sacked by The North Queensland Cowboys following an alleged Domestic Violence incident. CCTV footage reportedly showed Barba attacking his partner outside a Townsville Casino Australia Day long weekend. It has since been revealed he will return to the workforce Monday, driving trucks in his hometown, Mackay.
