A man will face court today charged after allegedly sending indecent and sexualised material to a teenage girl on the Coffs Coast.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation, following reports a 15-year-old girl had received indecent and sexually-explicit messages from a man known to her.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 66-year-old man at a home in Boambee East just after 2pm yesterday.

During a search of the home, police located mobile phones, electronic storage devices, and documentation. These items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

The man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of use carriage service to transmit indecent material to a child under 16 years old.

Police will allege in court that the man started engaging in sexualised conversations with the girl through social media in January 2019.

He was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today (Friday 22 February 2019).

Investigations are continuing.
